SOUTHAMPTON UNITED BAPTIST CHURCH
Serving Southampton & Cumberland County with the Love of Christ
At Southampton United Baptist Church, we believe that faith without action is incomplete. We are committed to serving our neighbours, addressing real needs, and building a stronger, more compassionate community in Cumberland County and beyond.
We partner with local food banks and community organizations to address food insecurity in rural Nova Scotia. Through regular food drives, collection events, and distribution efforts, we help ensure that no family in our area goes hungry. Volunteers sort, pack, and deliver food to those who need it most.
On the first Friday of every month, we open our church hall for a free, home-cooked community supper. These warm, welcoming meals bring together people from all walks of life — neighbours sharing a table, conversations, and the joy of being part of a caring community. Everyone is welcome.
Through our affiliation with the Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada (CBAC), we participate in refugee sponsorship and resettlement support programs. We help newcomers to Canada settle into their new lives by providing practical assistance, friendship, and a welcoming community to call home.
Our volunteer network provides essential support services to elderly and vulnerable community members. From transportation to medical appointments, to meals-on-wheels delivery, to regular check-in phone calls, our Neighbour Care Network ensures that no one in Southampton feels alone or forgotten.
Every August, we organize our annual Back-to-School Supply Drive, collecting backpacks, notebooks, pencils, and other essential supplies for families in need. We believe every child deserves to start the school year with the tools they need to succeed, regardless of their family's financial situation.
Throughout the year, we host a variety of community events that bring people together — from seasonal celebrations and harvest suppers to family game nights and outdoor picnics. These events strengthen the bonds of friendship and neighbourliness that define life in Southampton.
“When my husband passed away last winter, the people of Southampton United Baptist Church were there for me in ways I never expected. They brought meals to my door every week, drove me to appointments, and called just to check in. Their kindness showed me that I was never truly alone. This church does not just talk about love — they live it every single day.”— Margaret T., Southampton Resident
