SOUTHAMPTON UNITED BAPTIST CHURCH
Rooted in Faith, Growing in Community Since Generations Past
Southampton United Baptist Church stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of faith that has shaped the communities of Cumberland County, Nova Scotia, for well over a century. Our congregation traces its heritage to the rich Baptist tradition that took root in the Maritime provinces during the great spiritual awakenings of the late eighteenth century, inspired by the fervent preaching of Henry Alline and the New Light movement of the 1770s and 1780s.
From those early days of revival and renewal, Baptist congregations spread across Nova Scotia's towns and villages, bringing the message of God's grace to rural communities. Southampton, nestled in the gentle rolling countryside of Cumberland County, became home to a faithful group of believers who gathered to worship, pray, and support one another through the seasons of life.
Today, we continue the mission that began generations ago — proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, nurturing believers in their faith journey, and extending Christ's love to every person in our community. As a member of the Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada (CBAC), we are connected to a wider family of over 400 congregations across the Atlantic provinces, sharing resources, supporting missions, and encouraging one another in service.
To glorify God by preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, making disciples of all people, nurturing believers through worship, fellowship, and Biblical teaching, and demonstrating God's love through compassionate service to our neighbours in Southampton and beyond.
To be a beacon of Christ's love and hope in Cumberland County — a church where people of all ages and backgrounds encounter the transforming power of God, grow into mature disciples, and are equipped to serve and share their faith with the world around them.
These foundational principles shape everything we do as a church family.
We trust in the authority of Scripture and the saving grace of Jesus Christ as the foundation of all we believe and do.
We cherish authentic relationships within our church family and strive to create a warm, welcoming environment for everyone.
We follow Christ's example of servant leadership, reaching out to those in need with compassion and practical care.
We are committed to lifelong spiritual development through Bible study, prayer, mentorship, and discipleship at every stage.
Dedicated servants leading our congregation with wisdom, grace, and a heart for God's people.
